The McFaddin-Ward House Museum invites the public for their next community picnic event, which will take place on Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.
Picnickers are invited to dine al fresco on the museum grounds and enjoy the sounds of "The Community Quartet," a local jazz ensemble. The event is free and open to everyone.
Free first-floor tours of the museum will be offered, and information on the "Our Town" project will be available for those interested in touring what would have been the McFaddins' neighborhood to learn about the businesses and homes in the area--both old and new.
For more information on the event, contact the museum at (409) 832-1906.

"Our Town" Project Featured in the Beaumont Enterprise
We recently wrapped up another round of the "Our Town" Neighborhood Tour and it was another great success. The goal of the project is to encourage residents and business owners to share the stories of this historic area of Beaumont. Local photographer, Randy Edwards recently composed a special feature and gallery which ran on the Beaumont Enterprise's website on the project. We are thrilled about the spread and that Randy, an Old Town resident, has decided to research his own home to contribute to the preservation project.
Check out the links for the full story and stay tuned for more updates. Remember, we are always looking for more participation to help tell the story of "Our Town." Comment below with your questions, or get in touch with our historian for tips on researching your home or business.
